2018 YOUNG RESEARCHERS SCHOOL in VENICE, October 8-12

This year, our YRS is also called "VIU Graduate Seminar Sustainable Social Security" due to our partnership with the Venice International University.

On Sunday 7 October, we welcomed 15 promising young researchers  from 8 different universities for the opening of this year's Young Researchers School in the format of a VIU Graduate Seminar.

From Monday 8 October to Friday 12 October, they participated in different working groups focusing on their own research with feedback from their peers and professors from several universities. Next to that, they attended guest lectures from leading academics in the broad field of social security, and got an active role during the celebratory 50 years of EISS conference.

After the Seminar, the young researchers returned to their own universities with new ideas for their research, many new insights due to the interdisciplinary way of working, and plenty of new connections in the world of social security through the guest lecturers. On top of that, the researchers got a chance to network during the annual EISS conference, were they really proved an asset as well through their active participation and were able to impress the other attendants, all social security professionals, with their well thought-out comments and points of discussion.
